New to Torah?

We welcome you as you embark on your own personal journey into Torah observance at your own pace.

To some, the idea of starting to learn and keep all 613 Mitzveh (Commands/Instructions) of Torah is a bit daunting to say the least.  Don’t worry!  The greatest of all the Jewish Sages, Hillel, once answered a man who said that he would convert if he could teach him Torah in the time he could stand on one foot.  Hillel’s reply was, “That’s easy.  That which is hateful to you, do not do to another.  All the rest is commentary, go and study it.”

So what exactly is Torah?  Many who put their faith in Yeshua (Jesus) as their Messiah refer to the entire Word of G-d from Genesis to Revelation as Torah.  Sometimes they use torah, and the Word synonomously.  In the most literal sense, Torah specifically refers to the first five books of Moses (Moshe), also known as the Pentateuch.  These include the books of the Bible named Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

Do not be overwhelmed.  Little by little, step-by-step, you will grow in knowledge and understanding.  Keep in mind you are never expected to be perfect.  G-d has no expectation that you can do it on your own, this is why Yeshua had to die in our place.  Because of what Messiah did for us, we now have the freedom in Him to study, learn, and grow without fear of “messing up.”

Where should you begin?  Get yourself a good Bible or Bible app.  We recommend the Complete Jewish Bible linked above in our Suggested Reading section on this page.  Additionally, there are other books that will be helpful.  Pace yourself!  You don’t have to do everything all at once.  Start with obtaining your Bible then join us for in-person services.  Subscribe to our YouTube channel and catch lots of teachings both long and short.  You will love being a part of our services.  You’ll be welcomed as part of the family and we will be honored to help you in any way we can!

Missions

As a congregation, we support three main ministries actively serving the L-RD in Jerusalem, United States, and abroad.

One For Israel is a ministry we support that actively reaches Jewish people, in the Hebrew language in Israel.  In addition to outreach, they do this with the Gospel of Yeshua in Hebrew as well as Arabic and English.

Also, we support the orphanage

General Israel Orphan’s Home located in Jerusalem.  this orphanage supports girls and has a track record dating back to 1902 with much success.

Third we support:

North Carolina Boys Academy / Teen Challenge affiliated with Teen Challenge located in Conover, NC who are transforming the lives of troubled youths into men of faith.

Preborn is a Christian organization that provides ultrasounds for pregnant women considering abortion, providing support to choose life and sharing the Besorah (The Good News of the Gospel) along with her medical care.  The organization boasts saving over 59,000 babies and thousands of salvation commitments.  They have served over 72,000 women and continue to provide counseling, ultrasounds, medical care and the spread of the Gospel message.

Additionally, on a local level, we do our best to support efforts to directly and indirectly to feed people in need, through donation of meals, yardwork, handyman projects etc. and promote the Good News!

Salvation

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Yeshua HaMaschiach (Jesus Christ) the Son of G-d.  Salvation is received through repentence twoard G-d and faith toward the L-rd Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMashiach).  by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of G-d according to the hope of eternal life (Luke 24:47; John 3:3, Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7).  The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8;16).  The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:12).

Giving-Building Fund

At ROIC, we are super excited to be engaged in a building fund campaign!  Although we are blessed beyond measure by being allowed to hold services in the sanctuary of the host church where we currently meet, we know that the Father has plans for us to obtain our own facility soon!  It is our goal to purchase our own building this year, 2023!  Our inital goal is $100,000 is big and obtainable!  Our G-d is making a way and to Him be all the glory!  Funding will be available to get us where we need to go.  This goal will help us with furniture, equipment, signage, and demolition/construction to give us a suitable setting for our services, children and youth programs, fellowship, and outreach.

We are transparent and give updates to our membership quarterly.  Catch the vision and join in on the excitement!  Be part of a truly new work the L-RD is doing in Hickory, NC and the entire region!  If you choose to donate to this endeavor, please designate Building Fund on your check or electronic gift through our Church Center App.

Baptism

At ROIC, we believe in Baptism by water immersion.  The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures.  All who repent and believe on Yeshua, Christ as Savior and L-rd are to be baptized.  Thus they declare to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life (Matthrew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47, 48; Romans 6:4).

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit:  All believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptismin the Holy Spirit and fire, accourding to the command of our L-rd Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach.  this was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church.  with it comes the enduement of power for live and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31).  This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth (Acts 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:7-9).  With the baptism in the Holy Spirit come such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit (John 7:37-39; Acts 4:8), a deepened reverence for G-d (Acts 2:43; Hebrews 12:28), an intensified consecration to G-d and dedication to His work (Acts 2:42), and a more active love for Yeshua (Christ), for His Word, and for the lost (Mark 16:20).

Our Mission & Vision

Our Mission is to Minister to the Needs of Our Members and Our Community through the Teaching of Biblical Core Values from a Judeo-Centered Messianic Point of View while Seeking to Enrich Lives and Propagate the Understanding of The Gospel of Yeshua (Jesus) The Messiah.

We exist to seek and save the lost among both the Jewish people and those who are not of Jewish descent.  We are called to be a peculiar people and firmly believe we accomplish this by endeavoring to adhere to a Torah observant lifestyle.  We teach and lead our congregation family to study the Bible and walk out our faith in Yeshua (Jesus) by mirroring the first century believers as much as we are able.  We seek to encourage believers outside our fellowship to go deeper in their understanding of Scripture and to follow our Messiah more closely as we all walk out the process of sanctification.  We empower our brothers and sisters in Messiah to become bond servants to the King, ministering to the needs of the Body as well as the community in which we live.

Yeshiva

Have you ever wanted to be more involved or even credentialed for ministry? We can assist you with that!  There are 4 pathways to complete this goal.

Pathway #1:  Messianic Career Foundation courses.  These courses are for both the minister and for the layperson who wants to learn how to better impact the Jewish people with the Besorah (Good News) of Yeshua.

Pathway #2:  NJF School of Ministry.  These are the courses you'll need to become credentialed with the Assemblies of G-d and are taught from a Messianic perspective and equip you to better share with the Jewish people.

Pathway #3:  Engaging the Jewish World.  This is a 2-part college level course giving the student a perspective of Jewish History and thought that will enable them to engage in Jewish evangelism.

Pathway #4:  Leadership and business practicing.  These courses will help individuals grow in leadership skills while developming practical skills needed to manage daily aspects of ministry and their personal lives.

If after reading this, you are led by the Spirit and feel called to a greater purpose, please reach out to Rabbi Jeff Grillo and set up a meeting.  We look forward to seeing how G-d uses you to advance his kingdom!
