Rabbi Jeff Grillo

I have been married to my amazing wife Anna for coming up on 24 years at the time of this post.  We are blessed with two children, Joshua who is currently 21 years old, serves as the Associate Rabbi at The Rock of Israel Congregation, and is pursuing the second of 3 levels of credentialing. He works as an electrician to support himself.  My daughter Emily is a junior in High School and is interested in representing the L-RD in th emedical field as a doctor or nurse.

As for me, I felt the call of G-D way back when I was 18 years old and originally went to Bible college in 1990 as a music major.  I play keyboards and thought I was going to be a worship leader.  today, so many years later, things clearly went in a much different direction than I thought.  Even though I mainly serve as the Lead Rabbi here, I do enjoy occassionally playing on the Worship Team.  Depending on the need, I may be playing keyboards, acoustic guitar, or even bass guitar.  I don’t really have time for a lot of hobbies, but I do find great enjoyment in music, writing, baking, and I even happen to be a Ham radio nerd!  I have gone through all 3 levels of licensing…well, just because.  Nothing quite like setting up my radio and antenna and tuning in and striking up a conversation with a person thousands of miles away by bouncing signals off the atmosphere.  Of course, I love doing all kinds of things with my family.  anything we do is fun and cherished. 

Today, I am ordained by the Assemblies of G-D and am a member in good standing with their National Jewish Fellowship.  Study never ends!!  I studied for 11 years or so under Rabbi Cliff Maynard, who was also ordained by the same group and studied for 30 additional years under an orthodox Rabbi.  Areas of special interest for me personally include but are not limited to apologetics, evangelism, and giving the congregation the tools that they need to be the best students and followers of Messiah Yeshua that they possibly can be.  I also have had a background in secular radio broadcasting for 7 years.  I held various positions on-air both solo and as part of a morning show team.  The writing and communications skills I learned during this time are extremely valuable to me today, as I’m blind.  Some of the ways I have used the skills I learned there have shown up over the years when it comes to the books that I have written and published, the radio, television, magazine, and podcast interviews that I have been a guest on.  the various ministries I have served on and headed up, including TV ministries and even an online radio station.  My experience was certainly helpful in creating our current podcast, “So You Think You Know Jesus?” which I have recruited the help of my two kids to help in the recording, editing, and publishing of the content.  An old radio friend from the Tampa, Florida, broadcasting market named Amy Cardy was hired to record the voiceover opener and closer.  I even had lots of fun writing, performing, and recording the music for the open and close in my little home studio.
